"Winning was a dream come true!"

Karen & Lindsay had been myplace members for a while, but didn't think they would ever win so it was a big surprise to them when they got that magical call from Tracey...

"Lindsay and I were so happy to win such a beautiful yourtown Prize Home in Buderim in 2022. It was a dream come true!

Lindsay was like a big kid with his excitement about the house, and when we went out anywhere, he would take any opportunity he could to tell people how we had won the house. We were often met with comments from people who thought that nobody ever won those home lotteries.

Lindsay was especially keen to let them know that people do win, it was amazing, and that it had changed our lives."

A Big Decision...

"We were undecided what to do for some time, so spent our time between Buderim, Queensland and our home in NSW.

We finally decided that we were going to sell our house in NSW and live in Queensland for a few years. I didn’t want to move permanently, as I didn’t want to leave our family. But our house was so lovely and the location was so beautiful, we had to live there for at least a few years. Although, Lindsay was hoping to talk me into staying there for good.

Towards the end of 2023, we started the process of selling our house in NSW. Then we went to Buderim for another stay before packing up in NSW."

"Then the unthinkable happened."

"The day after we arrived on that trip, Lindsay had a massive heart attack and passed away. I am still devastated.

My family rallied around me and helped me through that very difficult time. I decided that I could not stay in Queensland on my own and made the hard decision to sell our beautiful house.

It has been a very difficult journey.

I have thought that it’s possible my husband may have passed at that time anyway. But thanks to yourtown, I have so many options now to make it easier to continue my life without my wonderful husband of almost fifty years.

I am making plans to build a new house and share some of our good fortune with our family.

Later, I will do some travelling too."
